Introducing the Paper Bag Project, a community-led initiative aimed at addressing the problem of plastic-pollution caused by single-use plastic bags in India. Despite the nationwide ban on plastic-bags, small-vendors such as flower and vegetable sellers continue to use them due to the cost involved in acquiring and adopting sustainable packaging. With our inclusive approach, we aim to empower these vendors to switch to sustainable upcycled alternatives one newspaper bag at a time.
You would know that India generates 3.4 million tons of plastic waste annually, out of which only 30% is recycled. The remaining waste ends up in landfills and oceans, causing harm to the environment and marine life. Single-use plastic-bags are a significant contributor to this problem, and we need to take action to reduce their usage.
